Who We Are

About DarknessCon

What is DarknessCon?

DarknessCon is a celebration of horror, dark culture, and alternative creativity — a convention built for fans of the strange, the macabre, and the wonderfully weird. We bring together film and television celebrities, authors, cosplayers, local artists, vendors, nonprofits, and live entertainers under one roof for an unforgettable day of community and fun. From our Macabre Market vendor hall to our Zombie Prom after-dark event, every corner of DarknessCon is designed to surprise and delight.

Who Is It For?

DarknessCon welcomes anyone who loves horror films, spooky aesthetics, alternative fashion, genre fiction, cosplay, or simply wants a space where it's cool to be different. Whether you're a lifelong horror devotee, a curious first-timer, a creative vendor, or a fan hoping to meet your favorite celebrity guest, there is a place for you here. Our daytime events are all ages, and our Zombie Prom is an 18+ evening experience for those who want to keep the darkness going after sundown.

Who Builds It?

DarknessCon is a collaboration between TekTek Events and Haus of Darkness Productions, Inc. — both based in Denver, CO. Haus of Darkness Productions is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, reflecting our genuine commitment to community and culture over profit. Together, our organizers bring a combined 150+ years of event management experience to every show we produce. We are fans first — people who have spent years attending conventions, watching horror films, and building community around shared love of the dark arts. We started DarknessCon because we wanted a convention that felt intimate, welcoming, and genuinely weird. Every year we pour our hearts into creating an experience that's personal, not corporate, and we are grateful to every guest, vendor, volunteer, and attendee who helps make DarknessCon what it is.

Our Board & Committees

DarknessCon is guided by an executive board that oversees the vision and direction of the convention, supported by a dedicated committee for each individual show. These committees handle everything from guest relations and vendor coordination to programming, logistics, and the countless details that bring each event to life.

We're always looking for passionate committee members — especially those local to the event area. If you have the desire to help DarknessCon grow and want to be part of something special, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out and tell us how you'd like to get involved →

Igor — DarknessCon mascot

Meet the Good Boy

Igor

Every darkness needs a loyal companion. Igor is the beloved dog of DarknessCon co-founder M. James Eveland, and he's been a fixture of the convention since the very beginning. From wandering the vendor hall to greeting guests at the door, Igor has been there through it all — the original creature of the night.

These days, Igor is getting a little older and doesn't travel to every show like he used to. But his spirit is everywhere — he's been the face of DarknessCon on t-shirts, badges, marketing materials, and even tattooed on the arm of one of our board members. He's more than a mascot; he's family.
